ICT - Grade 1 - Coding

Grade 1 students have started coding for 3 weeks at SIS. For this purpose, they use the website called "code.org" which shares plenty of useful online resources, apps, the hour of codes as well as well-prepared courses for elementary school students. These courses start from pre-readers to grade 6 students. As this course is about learning the basics of computer science and internet safety, our children have learned 4 side-arrows, "get" and "repeat" functions so far. Meanwhile, it is a great chance for the students to master some skills in order to be prepared for lifelong learning and conducting a purposeful inquiry. On this base, they practice the following approaches to learning: thinking skills. Children comprehend and apply their knowledge as well as collaborate with others. The main goal is to create their own game or story and share it at the end of the course. When grade 1 students finish the course, they will celebrate their coding challenges by getting the completion certificate.

Good luck grade 1!
