Grade 5: World Children's Day

On Wednesday, it was World Children's Day. Grade 5 decided that it would be a great opportunity to share some of their learning with the rest of the school during morning meeting. This included their art works depicting some of the children's rights from the UN Convention of the Rights of a Child, which is 30 years old this year. After reviewing the Sustainable Development Goals, the children thought carefully about what action they wanted to take to be changemakers.

In maths, Grade 5 defined what division meant to them: some drew pictures, while others wrote word problems. We used place value counters to help us to understand how written methods for division work before moving on to drawing images to represent the process.

In language, we have finally finished out Japanese myths. The children worked together to review and edit each other's work ready for publishing. In preparation for the Winter Performance, they have begun to prepare the resources needed for our puppet extravaganza.
