Explorers
Grade 4 worked hard on
many things this week. We made a solar system with Grade 1 with all eight
planets by painting our paper mache from last week. In Grade 4 we made globes
(Earth made by only grade 4) and painted them.
We also made pages for
our atlas so when it is the end of the term we will have a bunch of pages for
our book and it will show what we have learned. The pages are about the oceans,
the solar system, black holes, Charles Darwin, amazing exploration, and space
explorers. We also began looking at old and new maps.
Mathematics
In math we learned about measuring with metric units (meters and cm) and imperial measurements
(feet and inches). We measured our school using our own feet and then metric tools of measurement. The challenging thing was that everyone had different
sized feet so we then had to compare them to make an average. It was so fun.
Field Trip
Grade 4 went on a
fantastic, wonderful, amazing field trip to the Miraikan National Museum of
Emerging Science and Innovation. We saw robots, a giant globe and optical
illusions. We saw a very cool robot named Asimo. It can jump, sing, walk, sidewalk, back
walk, say hello and kick a ball.
