Grade 3 - Telling Time, Writing, and Winter Celebration

This week in Math we have been looking at elapsed time.  Students are working on task cards and word problems with everyday scenarios on them to solve for time.  They have to figure out how long it takes to watch a move, drive to a place, or eat food.  The other task is where students are given a start or end time and have to figure out the opposite.  Everyone is enjoying looking at these situations and realizing that their skills in telling time are improving!

During Inquiry and Language time, we are working on the beginning of our summative projects.  The students used Venn Diagrams to compare and contract the Edo period in Tokyo to present day Tokyo.  The Venn Diagrams will help the students frame their opinion writing piece on which period they would rather live in and why!

Finally we are really busy preparing for our winter performance.  We are creating props and costumes for our big performance!  We cant wait for our parents to see the final outcome!
