What an interesting week! We survived the typhoon, and dove right into learning.
Everyone enjoyed the story time this week. We read several books including, Goldie is Mad, Angry, and Excuse Me. These books deal with difficult emotions, expressing ourselves, and useful phrases we can use in certain situations.
We continued learning the letters A and S, and using songs to practice the sounds. The students really love singing the letter songs, and they all did a great job practicing pre-writing skills.
For pre-writing skills, we also have to work on our fine motor skills. After quickly reviewing the story, We Don’t Eat Our Classmates, we used legos to paint dinosaurs inspired from the story. We also reviewed proper cutting techniques, and made cute flowers together by cutting paper cupcake holders.
During math, we learned a new song, Five Little Ducks, that everyone loved. We then practiced the song with real rubber ducks in a sensory bin, and afterwards made finger puppets to practice the math using our fingers.
The students also had a blast during music and ICT this week. They are learning how to use bells to play Twinkle Twinkle Little Star, and they made scary, silly pictures with Mr. Vamick.
Finally, we continued practicing useful social skills. We played sharing games with the balls and puppets and practiced saying, “Excuse me,” “Can I play?” “No, please wait.” “Yes, here you are.” and “Thank you.”
We are excited for next week. Have a great weekend (:
