Kindergarten - Term 2 Week 7

This week in Inquiry, the children have enjoyed learning about animals' natural habitats.
They were open-minded and discussed how some animals have evolved to acclimatize to their natural habitats and considered the things that different animals need to survive.

The students were also caring and imagine being an animal. They considered whether they would prefer to live in a cage in a zoo or running free in their natural habitat.

The students were creative and made their own African Savannah!

The students were really good at correctly thinking of the natural habitat for some of the toy animals

We discussed some animals that are not from the natural habitats we learnt about in class. Some animals are domestic and can live as pets in our homes, and some animals live on a farm.

I brought an eggshell into the class to generate questions and ideas from the students. We learnt that not all eggs can hatch and that eggs need to stay very warm under their mother in order to hatch. The students were such inquirers, but their biggest question was, 'how does the chick get inside the egg?'

The students looked at pictures of stages in a chicken's life cycle and used their thinking skills to arrange them into the order they thought the stages happened in.

In Language, we studied words with the long 'oo' sound in.

In Math, we studied picture graphs!

The children continued to use the tally chart boards during Center Time in the morning to question their classmates.

This week's Show and Tell:

I brought in some flowers to keep in the class so we can observe how they grow and change
