Preschool: Week 6

This week, we redecorated the classroom, and it made a huge difference! Everyone loved the new literacy center, and enjoyed reading together. We even had three very kind 5th graders come and read to the class.

The students all really enjoyed building with blocks this week. They created trains, homes, and even cities. The students also worked together to problem solve, and later in the week, would build a home for their own family which ties into the unit of inquiry.

We introduced some natural materials into the classroom as well, and the students were able to explore the different textures, colors, and shapes.
The students also loved reflecting on a previous project. They discussed how to be a good friend, and really wanted to read We Don't Eat Our Classmates again. Seeing their pictures from last week used alongside their paintings was exciting.

We had ICT, and the students practiced their directional and problem solving skills on the ipads.

Finally, we practiced using watercolors for the first time, and everyone loved it. We learned how to hold the paint brush, how to clean our brushes, and the students were proud of their works of art.

Everyone is becoming closer in the classroom, and next week, we are going to introduce more collaborative projects.
Have a great weekend!
