Grade 3 Celebration of Learning and Literacy Week

It was an exciting week at SIS!  We had our annual Literacy Week where we celebrated our love of reading and writing.  Students participated in a reading challenge, dress as your favorite book character contest, decorated book covers, had a guest reader read to us in Japanese, decorate our classroom doors and had the opportunity to buy new books at the book fair!

Celine was our writing contest winner for grade 3!

Grade 3 student receiving our award for reading 8,500 pages!  Nice job grade 3!!

Congratulations Azmi on winning best costume for Grade 3!

Great job girls on submitting a story for the writing contest!

Bronze Level Readers for participating in the reading challenge!

Silver Medal Winners for participating in the reading challenge

Gold Medal Winners for participating in the reading challenge!

This week we also had our Celebration of Learning where the students were able to showcase what they learned during our unit Who We Are!  They showed their parents their human body model Fred, the brains, chest wall and heart that they made, as well as their projects about the 4 systems in the human body.  We also had an opportunity to see Grade 2's projects on communities and hear about where they are all from.  Grade 3 really enjoyed getting to hear about different parts of the world!

Finally a big congratulations to all of the students who participated in the musical performance.  Mr. Thomas, our music teacher worked with them to help them learn to sing and play Do Re Mi on the recorder!  They sounded fantastic and I was very proud of how hard they all worked!

They have worked really hard over the first half of this term!  Enjoy your fall break and see you in a week!
