Grade 3 Taking a Chance in Math and Map Skills

Grade 3 came back from our fall break refreshed and ready to learn!  This week in Math, we learned about chance, probability, whether we are certain about something or if something is impossible.  Students used dice, colored tiles and coins to help strengthen their understanding of chance.

During inquiry, we began our new unit Where We Are In Place and  Time.  In this unit we are looking at how places change over time and our location in relationship to other parts of the world.  We started by labeling what we know on a map of Japan.  From there we began looking at world maps, labeling oceans and continents.  Finally we started looking at an atlas and are deciding what do we think are the most important aspects of a map.  The kids have enjoyed exploring and learning about different parts of the world this week.
