Learner Profile Week 6 Term 1

Shinagawa International School has begun a new Learner Profile. Ms. Melanie read the story "Ghost in the House" to all of our students in our Tuesday Morning Meeting. The book was about being a risk-taker. The Primary Years Program defines a risk-taker as a person that is willing to try and explore new ideas with the risk of failure or success.

The little ones were read a risk taker book called "Beady Bear. " The book can be best summarized with the following: A windup toy bear finds out that bears live in caves  after reading an  animal ABC and so he decides to go to a cave to live. Even though the bear brings a pillow, flashlight and a newspaper, he is not satisfied and he determines that something is missing. The bear's owner seeks him out and he seems to be the missing link to happiness. In other words, there is no place like home. The book was read with a "torch" (flashlight) and the lights out to get more of a dramatic effect.
