Grade 3 field trip to the Tokyo Metro Museum

This week grade 3 went on a field trip to the Tokyo Metro Museum.  During our unit, Where We Are in Place and Time, our lines of inquiry were about mapping and reading maps.  The students did a scavenger hunt around the museum using the guide map to help them find their answers.  They had to learn about the history of the trains, safety, the different types of railways in Japan and around the world, as well as the lines on the Tokyo Metro system.  It was a great experience for them to learn to read a map and find new information.  After the museum, we went to Kaijo Park in Shinagawa for lunch and recess.  The students then had to draw a map of the park as their activity.  It was a fun day had by all!
