Grade 1 - Important Events

One of our students demonstrated an attitude for this Unit of Inquiry: curiosity. She wanted to learn more about her family members, and decided to ask her parents to help her make a family tree. Great job taking action!

We have been discussing about how "important events differ from family to family." We each made a pyramid to show the order of importance for six events: losing a tooth, moving to a new home, going to Disneyland, being born, and going to school. Each of us presented why we thought an event was the most important one, and understood that we had different reasons for why we thought an event was important.

We are also excited to share our family's important events next week!

This week, we also had an opportunity to visit Grade 2's classroom to play math games together. We had addition/subtraction and place value games. Everyone had so much fun!
