PRE-K 5 Senses (TOUCH)

We have been extra busy this week,
experimenting, exploring and even making our own tactile resources in Pre-K Room.
Here are some photos of us making
COLORED RICE and PASTA from last Friday

We left these to dry over the weekend,
and everyone was so excited to come in on Monday to see the
colored rice and pasta all dried up for us to play with!

Students said it looks like colorful sprinkles that goes on cakes,
and some said it looks like a rainbow.
We also tried putting rice into different containers and materials to
make different sounds.

We also asked the students
'is this one grain of rice heavy or light?'
they all said it was light.
Then we filled up a large jar with all the rice and asked,
'do you think this jar filled with rice is going to be heavy or light?'
some said heavy and some said light.
Once they all got the chance to hold the jar,
they all said it was heavy and made them think.

We also tried guessing what object it is hiding inside the rice jar!

WATER BEADS!
We decided to add some water to our tactile/sensory activities,
and made ourselves water beads!
First of all, students described what the dry beads felt like before
adding water to it. They said it was dry and hard.
After adding warm water with the beads in a
bucket we saw it slowly expand.
We compared how the texture changes and tried
describing how it feels,
wet and slimy!

after few hours...

After a long busy day,
some of our students chose to meditate on the mat!
