The children came into our classroom and noticed
that someone had been here; it’s the giant from Jack and the beanstalk. This is
a provocation, to get the students interested in our unit How the World Works.
We will try to grow a beanstalk like Jack. Observing our beanstalk growing will
help us inquire into how living things change over the course of their
lifetime.
To begin our new
unit, How the World Works, we began by reading the story, Jack and the
Beanstalk. This provocation was designed to do a number of things. To excite
and engage the children and to HOOK them into learning. It also will ignite
curiosity. Finally, it was designed to generate questions and
leave a lasting impression.
