Grade 4 - Word Study

In Grade 4, we use Word Study time to learn and practice the fundamentals of the English language.  The goals of Word Study are the following:

• Learn new vocabulary
• Increase spelling and phonetic skills
• Practice grammar and word usage in sentences
• Develop more elaborate and detailed writing
• Pronounce words correctly

To do this, the students work in groups that collaborate and share the workload, learn from and teach each other, practice together, and check each others' work.  At the same time as learning the words, they are developing communication skills, responsibility and teamwork.  Here they are in action!
