Grade 4 - Tuning into Inquiry

Grade 4 started to tune into inquiry by doing a "Me Bag Show and Inquire" activity.  Students brought in three items that represented something about themselves.  It could have been something showing what they like, what they think is important, an attitude they have, something difficult thing they have done, something that reminds them of their past, or anything else that is a part of their self identity.  The job of the other students was to ask questions that would help determine why they brought in that item.  After some questions, the students would take a guess at what they thought the item represented.  It was a fun activity for all students to not only share some special things about themselves, but also to develop their inquiry and formulating questions skill.

We also tuned into our actual inquiry unit with a provocation, trying to solve some Great Minds puzzles.  After working together to attempt to solve some of the puzzles, the students reflected about what they thinking, saying and feeling while doing the activity.
