Grade 4 - Reading Self Portraits

To support the value of reading and encourage the students to envision themselves as communicators that that love and learn from reading, Grade 4 created their self portraits reading a book they enjoy.  The portraits were made as a composite of three or four parts.   Everyone had a drawing of their face.  Students who used time management skills and had enough time left, did various forms of art for their background.  Some did brush and splatter painting, while others used color pencil.  Everyone traced the outline of their hands, colored them, and applied them to a photocopy of the book of their choice.  The students did a great job through much effort and commitment using techniques to color, draw, cut and glue with skill.
