Grade 4 - Buddy Reading

Grade 4 has been doing Reading Buddies with Grade 1 recently.  It has been helpful for both of our grades and is fun to do!  Reading buddies can have a positive influence on young readers. A reading buddies program allows older students the opportunity to develop fluency as well as a sense of pride in their accomplishments. In addition, they often come to see the value of reading. Students can not only promote good practices but gain self-esteem. Sometimes a reading buddy can help a struggling reader stay interested, and sometimes having a buddy can help make reading fun instead of seeming like a chore. Since reading skills will affect every aspect of your child's learning, anything that has a positive impact is worth exploring. Because the program provides success in literacy, students often become more positive about their ability to read and may also improve their reading skills.
