How We Organize Ourselves G5/6

Grade 5 and 6 are making posters for our upcoming Science Week.

We went on an excursion to Shinagawa Garbage Incineration Plant.

We are not allowed to post our pictures taken inside the facility.

This plant burns garbage and has a zero emission rating. In other words, the smoke coming out of this stack doesn't pollute the air.

We got to ride stationary bikes to see how much electricity that we could generate. This plant generates electricity by burning garbage and running a steam turbine to power its facility. The excess electricity is sold off to a nearby apartment complex. The leftover by-product (ash) is used to make bricks and sidewalks for our prefecture.

Diego is studying about air pollution for his "Graduation Project." Next week, he will survey different grade levels to find out their opinions on improving the air.

Diego asked the above questions to an engineer.
