To begin our unit, we looked at three different pictures and wrote down what we can see, what the picture makes us think about, and what we wonder. Some of the things we wondered was whether the fish will die from eating the plastic (trash) in the ocean, and whether someone will pick up the trash so the fish will be alive. We discussed that everyone should be more responsible and principled; people should clean up their bottles and trash instead of throwing it on the ground, and if we are responsible, the beach should be clean.
We also worked on measurement with non-standard units this week. We had many thinkers in the class trying out different ways to measure objects around the classroom, including ourselves!
