This week we read The Name Jar by Yangsook Choi. The book tells the story of Unhei, a recent immigrant to America from Korea. We learned from Unhei's story how names are an important way for migrants to maintain their cultural identity in a new country. For homework, we researched the meanings of our names and why our parents chose our names. In class, we created painting about ourselves using our names.
