Japanese Class (Undoukai)

Japaneseクラスでは、運動会の歌を練習してきました。運動会の後に、各学年で「運動会の思い出」を絵日記で書きました。それぞれいい思い出が出来たようで、良かったです :)
The students practiced Undoukai songs recently. After Undoukai, each student wrote a picture&composition for Undoukai memory.

Kindergarten: They painted Undoukai pictures

Grade 1: Draw pictures and composition

Before Undoukai, they enjoyed singing practice♪
Grade 2:Draw pictures and composition

I am going to put all pictures in the hallway!

Grade 4 made Undoukai newspaper!

Practice makes perfect

For our Celebration of Learning this year, we will sing a song called I Am The Earth. This song is connected to the IB learner profiles. It shows how we must be caring not only to other people, but also to the earth. It also shows that we must be open minded and principled.

We practiced the song this week, for the first time on that stage.

Undokai

Congratulations to the grade 2 students for a job well done during Undokai!  They all worked very hard at working together as a team with grade 3, as well as with the Jinsho grade 3 and 4 students.  This year grade 2 participated in 3 events, the 80 meter sprint, a game of over/under and a dance called You Make Shibuya!  They had been practicing for 1 month to prepare for the day.  I was very proud of all of the students!

Grade 1 Week 8 How We Organize Ourselves Term 3

We wanted to know- why rainbows are sometimes seen on the pavement after a rain shower?

So, in Science, we did a STEM (Science Technology Engineering and Math) activity by making rainbow paper with water and nail polish.

We found out that oil and water do not mix. The light spectrum is reflected with the water and oil. The oil will leave a opaque film on the paper that looks like a rainbow.

As you can observe, a little rainbow formed!

Tomorrow is Sports Day and so we will have more photos coming up!

The "Make It, Take It Mad Science Club" would like to give a big thanks to Elysia and Kai for saving their lids on their organic applesauce. We reused the lids to make propellers for our biplanes in our Afternoon School Program.

Kindergarten community.

As part of our inquiry into the disconnectedness of human made systems and communities, the children decided they wanted to create a community within our classroom. They decided they wanted a bank and a police station.

This inquiry began, by being child led and unstructured.
Unstructured play is important for a child because it gives them a sense of freedom and control.
It also allows them to learn about themselves, what they like and don't like, and even make mistakes without feeling any pressure or failure.
