Grade 1 Week 9 Term 3 How We Organize Ourselves

The Japanese people call this event an "Undokai." In English, the term means a "Sports Day."

Last Saturday, we had our last Sports Day with our Japanese Exchange School. We will be moving into our new school campus soon and  we will no longer be an exchange school.

The event started out a bit formal.

The Red Team competed against the White Team.

Grade 1 threw balls into a net.

We tried our best!

We experienced the "thrill of victory and agony of defeat."

We danced and had fun!

We entertained the crowd with pom poms and tassels.

Grade 1 made some art. The many circles stand for the people in our class. The triangles represent our differences.

We will learned how to marbleize a piece of paper with oil paint. We used the scientific  principle that oil and water don't mix.

We have been doing a Young Writers Workshop to help our class members grow in their English skills.

Grade 1 looked into the purposes of different trucks.  This is a flatbed.

Cement Truck

Firetruck

This journal entry is about where Azmi is interested in taking an excursion.

Our class is using Cuisenaire Rods to do math. Each rod has a different value to help use add.

For instance, orange is worth 10, black rods have a value of 7, white is worth 1 and red rods are 2.

We remade the diagrams to check our answers.
