Grade 1 Week 11 Term 3 How We Organize Ourselves

Happy belated Father's Day! We had some better behaving bus people!

We took a compressed facial mask and a magical capsule and learned about osmosis.

The facial mask quickly expanded and the magical capsule took a longer time.

Here are the before and after pictures of this Science experiment.

The capsules yielded sea creatures.

We recorded the transformation in our Science books.

We have been looking into keeping our community safe with dogs.

For our celebration of Learning, we made dog masks! 1st Grade will be singing "It is "Ruff, Ruff, Being a Dog."

We found out that people spent 138 Billion Yen on their pampered pets in Tokyo, Japan in 2018. Have you seen those small, cuddly and cute dogs with big eyes in pet stores? You can buy them for as much as a used car. Did you know that many of these unsold pet store dogs are put to sleep forever when their cuteness wears off and nobody buys them? This is called a puppy mill where profit is placed above the well being of the dog. Grade 1 came to the conclusion that people should adopt dogs. We asked the question, “How pets are organized in our community?”
