Grade 4: Week 2 Who We Are

Grade 4 has been getting used to our subject routines.  In Math, the students try to work independently or together in groups to read the math book and figure out what is important in each chapter before trying to practice the concepts.  This helps them develop their independent thinking, make connections between what they have learned before and have confidence in learning on their own.  They also take notes on the new concepts so that they have a self-made reference book that should be organized in a way that will help them figure out things they have forgotten.  

In Language, we are learning how to be better writers by having better word choice and stronger sentences.  Here the students are working together to use a thesaurus and locate better verbs to describe actions more vividly and clearly.
