Preschool - Baby Shark

Our students showed us their creative thinking
by making and building variety of things (donuts, submarine, vacuum etc)
using the connecting tubes.
They also showed us how they work as a team!

End of Year Performance is coming up,
and we have received all our costumes!
(students chose the color of the shark they wanted)
Our students were so excited to try the costumes on while we practiced!
We have started painting and decorating for the performance too!

Developmental Play

Our students continue to enjoy the Vet play,
and they also looked after Ms Zeynep too!

With the request from all our students,
we have been having dance time in the afternoons together
which they all had a blast!

Grade 3 Omikoshi Festival

Today we had the opportunity to go and watch a local Japanese public school participate in their festival that will happen this weekend.  The students made their own omikoshi and paraded down the street.  An omikoshi is a portable Shinto shrine for the gods and spirits. It resembles a small building which is fixed to 4 poles. Omikoshi are usually very heavy and require many folks to carry it on their shoulders. The Omikoshi is usually bounced up and down to the rhythm of the chants.  There are smaller ones for kids as well.  They contain a piece of paper with a name written on it.  The procession can also include decorated floats and sometimes even performers.

How we organize ourselves.

As part of our current unit, every day, a different student is the teacher. The little teacher will conduct our morning meetings. The children have really enjoyed having this kind of responsibility.
