Grade 1 - Finishing Our Unit

We are wrapping up our Unit of Inquiry, Where We Are in Place and Time: My Family History. We have all finished our "quilts" and were able to share it with our classmates! Each of us worked with a partner to assess each other's quilts, and we also did a self-assessment to check whether our quilt shared information about our family members, important events, and information from our interviews.

Next week, we have our Celebration of Learning on Wednesday. We are all excited for you to come see our performances!

Grade 3 and 4 combined Math classes

This week Ms. Lauren and Mr. V leveled our Math classes.  We gave both classes a worksheet to see what they understood and then we decided who would stay in the grade 3 classroom and who could advance to grade 4 while we practiced fractions.  The students are enjoying having different teachers for Math and working with new friends.  This will help all the students because the higher level students are now being challenged and the rest of the students are able to work at their speed.  Mr. V and I hope to continue this for the rest of the year!

Preschool - ARTS

Hello Everyone!
This week was another busy week in our Preschool Room.
We have been practicing our song for our winter performance,
We also experimented different ways to make art using different resources - e.g) First, coloring the paper with crayon, painting the whole paper with black paint, and once it dried, scratching it using toothpick.
Our students absolutely loved trying out new things.
We also got some new 'Wood Intelligence Puzzles' which they enjoy playing with.
This showed me how creative and imaginative they are and also it was interesting to see how each individual students were open-minded with this open-ended resources, showing that they have different ideas and ways of exploring it.
E.g) Some of the students starting stacking the blocks on top of each other and some filled in all the empty spaces of the wooden board etc.

We have finally received our 'Erasers' for our Reward to the students in our classroom (they get to choose one) every time they collect 10 stickers! (either for Good Behavior, Listening to the teacher well, Caring or Being Kind etc).
They are all so excited for this!

PMP, Jolly phonics

PMP, in the park.

Gross motor (physical) skills are those which require whole body movement and which involve the large (core stabilising) muscles of the body to perform everyday functions, such as standing and walking, running and jumping, and sitting upright at the table. They also includes eye-hand coordination skills such as ball skills (throwing, catching, kicking) The park near our school, is a great place to practice these skills.
