Grade 6 Week 10 Where We Are in Time and PLace

We have begun a new transdisciplinary unit called "Where We Are in Time and Place." Our Central Idea is "Past civilizations left legacies that are present today." Our Lines of Inquiry are 1.) How past civilizations developed and operated. 2.) How past civilizations made important discoveries and inventions. 3.) How ancient civilizations impact our lives today. We will looking into the concepts of form, function and causation. 

Grade 5 has been researching about the contributions of the Incan civilization in Peru.

We are making a Jeopardy game to help people gain some knowledge about the Incans. Jeopardy is a famous quiz show in America that has been going on for about 50 years with the same game show host.

Grade 4: Week 9 Who We Are - Learner Profile Books

Grade 4 started making their Learner Profile books this week.  On the outside they will have self portraits that represent what they have learned about our central ideas throughout the year and on the inside it will have how the students think they show the different PYP attitudes and attributes.  At the end of the year, the book will be finished as an artistic way to represent their knowledge and learner profiles!

Grade 1 Week 9 Where we are in place and time

Grade 1 has begun learning about our new theme. We will be learning about families, and the similarities and differences between families. Today we brainstormed about families and what the class wants to learn more about. As well, each group made a picture about what they think family is. I am looking forward to Parent's Day next week, so we can continue our discussion about family!

Counting treasure

To encourage Kindergarten to be risk takers, thinkers, caring etc....They can get treasure as a reward. 

The learner profile unites us all with a common focus: on the whole person, as a lifelong learner. It applies to us all – student, teacher, parent or administrator – for we are all continually learning.
