We would like to wish you and yours a Happy New Year!
The teachers selected the best cards from each Grade level to be delivered to your house.
The competition was keen as you can see!
In Japan, this is the Year of the Boar!
In Mathematics, we went over how to find a missing number when doing an average. This is the reverse method but I also showed the children the algebraic way.
We did a Chinese chopstick method of multiplying smaller numbers.
This is the problem 13 x 13. You lay down one stick and three beside it. Then, in opposite direction, you lay down one stick and three beside it. You can now count the intersections on the left side, middle and right side. Finally, you have your answer. which is 169.
As a Mathematics and Science activity, we made cookies.
We had some successes and failures with ingredients and measurements.
The activity was fun!
This dough was bit thick but it turned out the best.
Some of the dough was a bit wet so we put powdered sugar on it.
Some of the children put their cookies in tins. You can help your child bake the cookies at 170 degrees for about 10 to 13 minutes in a convection oven.
This was from our Winter Performance. Grade 5 is singing "Tomorrow."
