Japanese Class & Guitar ASP - Winter Performances-

Naomi

G 5 and 6 Happy New Year

We would like to wish you and yours a Happy New Year!

The teachers selected the best cards from each Grade level to be delivered to your house.

The competition was keen as you can see!

In Japan, this is the Year of the Boar!

In Mathematics, we went over how to find a missing number when doing an average. This is the reverse method but I also showed the children the algebraic way.

We did a Chinese chopstick method of multiplying smaller numbers.

This is the problem 13 x 13.  You lay down one  stick and three beside it. Then, in opposite direction, you lay down one stick and three beside it. You can now count the intersections on the left side, middle and right side. Finally, you have your answer. which is 169.

As a Mathematics and Science activity, we made cookies.

We had some successes and failures with ingredients and measurements.

The activity was fun!

This dough was bit thick but it turned out the best.

Some of the dough was a bit wet so we put powdered sugar on it.

Some of the children put their cookies in tins. You can help your child bake the cookies at 170 degrees for about 10 to 13 minutes in a convection oven.

This was from our Winter Performance. Grade 5 is singing "Tomorrow."

Grade 5 and 6 are singing and playing "Little Wing."

Grade 2 Winter Performance

We had our schoolwide winter performances this week. Grade 2 picked the song "Try Everything". I thought it was a great choice because it's upbeat and has a great message. The students practiced hard to memorize the song and to keep up with the speed.  We hope the parents enjoyed the performance! We are now starting our winter break and will see you again in 2019! Happy holidays!

Preschool - Last Day of the Term

First of all, I would like to thank everyone who came to the Winter Performance.
It was lovely hearing great feedback's from a lot of our parents who have enjoyed the end of year performance! I really appreciate all your thoughtful words.
I am very proud of our students,
it was a challenge for them to stand on the big stage in front of all the lights
and the audience, however they did amazing!

Just a quick reminder,
I will be sending all their blankets and pillows as well as their belongings from school today so you can send it back to us on their first day back at school.

Have a safe and an amazing Winter Break everyone and
we hope to see you soon in January!

Grade 1 - Winter Performance

Thank you for coming to our Winter Performance! Grade 1 worked hard to come up with the movements for our song, and I'm proud of their performance! Many Grade 1 students also participated in other performances, such as Anatolian Dance, Guitar Club, Grade 3 Performance, and Dance Club. I hope everyone has a wonderful winter break, and see you in 2019!

Grade 3 Winter Performance

This past week was our Winter Performance.  Grade 3 students participated in many performances including Anatolian Dance, Dance Club, Drama Club, Japanese, Grade 4 and their own grade 3 performance.  They have worked very hard over the past 6 weeks for this performance and I am very proud of them!  Here are some videos from the performance day, enjoy!

Phonics is a technique which is used to teach kids how to read through use of sounds. This helps children build their reading capabilities early on. Children are also able to improve their English spelling and pronunciation which helps them in developing good communication skills.

Reading to each other.

Show and tell isn’t just about giving the kids a reason to bringing toys to class; each child’s social, emotional and language skills will grow and develop from this activity as the children learn to use descriptive language, practice listening skills and share their special items with others. Sharing prized possessions with peers makes for a fun and comfortable learning arena for everyone involved.
