Grade 4 students are getting back into the swing of things after the Winter Break. During Math class, students work together in groups to read the chapter in the Math book, combine what they read with the knowledge they already have on the topic, and discuss what they think they are supposed to learn in the chapter. After that the group will present their ideas on the chapter to me, and I will either have them try again to understand on their own or help fine tune their ideas. After that they create a page for that topic in their own Math notebooks, which can be used as a reference for them, and complete practice problems to help them get ready for the test. The students are not only responsible for themselves but also their group members, which develops their teamwork, listening and speaking skills.
